Art in the house
The Sunneschlössli was built in 1993, a little castle in the sun with a small tower. Much of what is inside came together over the years, by roundabout ways. A short walk through the pieces that tell a story.
Rosensuite
On the walls hang rose paintings by Lotte Günthart, the Swiss painter who painted roses so precisely you think you can smell them. Beside them, a lithograph by Salvador Dalí.
Zarensuite Nikolaus II
Here stand the beds in which Tsar Nicholas II and his wife Alexandra slept more than a hundred years ago, once in the Alexander Palace near Saint Petersburg.
Loftsuite Geierwally
On the wall hangs an original painting by Anna Stainer-Knittel, the Tyrolean painter who became famous as the Geierwally after abseiling down a rock face as a young woman.
Jägersuite Wilhelm Tell
Furnished with old Swiss farmhouse furniture — the oldest piece a wedding wardrobe from 1838, each with its own patina.
Biedermeiersuite Freischütz
The little Biedermeier bench belonged to Wallis Simpson, the American for whom King Edward VIII gave up the British throne in 1936.
Throughout the house

St. Antonius Chapel
Above the garden stands the little St. Antonius Chapel, a quiet place on the sunny slope. Do look inside.
