When the snow comes
Quiet trails, snowed-in summits, and a warm retreat afterwards.
The Sunneschlössli has two seasons. When the snow comes, the hiking valley becomes one of the quietest cross-country regions in the Alps, and the house becomes a warm retreat after a day outside, a quiet base for a winter or skiing holiday in the Tannheimer Tal, on the trails as much as on the slopes.

Cross-country from the doorstep
The nearest cross-country trail is about 130 metres from the house, and from there the valley’s whole trail network is open to you, around 140 kilometres for classic and skating according to the tourist board. Matthias knows it from his biathlon days, and here you wax your skis together with him.

Skiing in the valley
Four ski areas lie in the valley, with 33 kilometres of slopes and one ski pass for all of them. The Füssener Jöchle in Grän and the Neunerköpfle in Tannheim are a few minutes away, the Rohnenspitze and the Wannenjoch lie at the far end of the valley. The ski bus is free with the guest card, and you can hire skis or have your own sharpened at Sport Rief, down in the village.
Winter walks and tobogganing
Cleared winter paths lead through the meadows of Nesselwängle and along the Haldensee, and on snowshoes you climb up to the Edenalpe. You can borrow a sledge from us at the house.

Early start
If you want to be out early on the trails or the slopes, order bread rolls from the Bitesnich bakery down in the village by 4 pm the day before, and they are outside your suite by 8 am. Not on Sundays, when the bakery is closed. Otherwise you have breakfast with us in the Bauernstube, from half past eight to ten, just let us know the day before. Over Christmas and New Year there are only the rolls. And if you would like a packed snack for the day, a word in advance is enough.
Warmth afterwards
From 4 to 7 pm the wellness area is open for our guests: whirlpool, steam bath and infrared cabin. If you would like it to yourselves for an hour, reserve it beforehand, from 2 to 3 or from 3 to 4 pm, also free of charge. In the evening we set out fondue or raclette for you on request, in your suite or in the Bauernstube. And the Orient Express house bar has a glass for the evening.

Still days
After the holidays the valley grows quiet. That is the time for the trail by day and a film in the evening: every suite has a Blu-ray player, and the house holds more than 400 films from the collection we took over with the house. Borrowing them costs nothing.
Six chapters of winter
Our winter season runs from 11 December to mid-April. You receive the guest card on arrival. With it the buses through the valley are free in winter too, so are all the cross-country trails, and ski hire costs less. Write to us via the contact page and tell us when you would like to come, we reply ourselves.
