Hiking, cycling, lakes and stillness, much of it starting right at the house.
Nesselwängle sits at 1,200 metres, quietly at the edge of the Tannheimer Tal and yet close to everything. In 2019 the valley was voted Austria’s finest hiking region, and Nesselwängle is its quietest corner. Hiking, cycling, art and culture, cross-country trails and toboggan runs in winter: much of it begins right outside the door.

Hiking and mountain lifts
People walk in every direction here, from valley strolls to summit days. Three mountain lifts take the climb off your hands: the Neunerköpfle in Tannheim, the Füssener Jöchle in Grän and the Wannenjoch in Schattwald. Up top, themed trails carry on, the Schmugglersteig at the Wannenjoch and the 9erlebnisweg at the Neunerköpfle.
The guest card is included
On arrival you receive the valley’s guest card from us. It gives you free bus travel through the whole valley, as far as Reutte, Vils and Füssen, and one ride up on the summer lifts each day. Plus a day at the Wasserwelt Haldensee and discounts on ski and bike hire, climbing and the pools.
Art and culture all around
If you are after culture, it is never far. Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles are a good half hour away by car, along with the Ehrenberg castle world near Reutte and the historic old town of Füssen. Closer still: the Tannheim local museum, small galleries and the valley’s carving workshop. And scattered across the valley, more than thirty churches and chapels, each with a story of its own.

From farmers’ markets and concerts to festivals and the autumn Almabtrieb, the valley keeps its own calendar all year round.
We know the valley from our own days out and will gladly tell you which tour suits the weather, where it is loveliest at the right time, and which stop along the way is worth it. What we recommend, we have seen ourselves.
