In the house there is a small bar in the style of the Orient Express, modelled on the famous train: dark wood, leather, warm light. A place for the evening, a glass after a long day outdoors, without any fuss.
The Orient Express first ran in 1883, crossing Europe from Paris towards the south-east, with sleeping cars, dining cars and many languages at the same table. Agatha Christie set one of her best-known crime novels aboard it. Our little bar is modelled on that saloon carriage, furnished from memories of many journeys.
An evening in the house also offers the Honesty Bar in the Bauernstube and the Fumoir, our conservatory looking out on the swimming pond.
