The Tannheimer Tal was voted Austria’s finest hiking region in 2019, and Nesselwängle is its quietest corner. More than a hundred hiking routes begin in the valley. The part we love: 29 of them are within thirty minutes of the Sunneschlössli on foot. You simply leave the car where it is and walk.
Straight from the house
The Gaicht loop runs a good ten kilometres through the little hamlets of Gaicht and Rauth, 266 metres of climb, about two hours. For something shorter there is the village loop, five kilometres and nearly flat. And the loop around the Haldensee, a good seven kilometres along the water, is a classic even on warm days.

For quiet days and families
The loop around the Vilsalpsee nature reserve is easy and rewarding in every season, a good twelve kilometres with barely any climb. Shorter and lovely with children: the lakeside path to the Bergacht waterfall, barely six and a half kilometres. Or the Schmugglersteig themed trail, family-friendly, coming over from Schattwald.
For summit collectors
If you want to go higher, there is plenty at the door: the Krinnenspitze with over a thousand metres of climb, the Gimpelhaus as a staging post, and the Aggenstein and Hochvogel for long days. More than two hundred tours in and around the valley are rated scenic, many with a place to stop in along the way.

Which tour suits your day is something we like to work out together. We know the paths, we send you off with maps and tips, and when you come back, the swimming pond or the steam bath is waiting.
